The essence of the steel-and-concrete hybrid system is that steel panels are used on the outside surfaces of wall cavities as forms for the cast-in-place concrete walls. The steel forms remain in place permanently to contribute reinforcement and speed construction time. Higher and higher modules of steel forms can be assembled, and concrete poured into the cavities, without waiting the usual period for the previously poured concrete to cure.
