Super Bowl Ad Filmed
(Excerpt) "’The Super Bowl is way too big for me,’ jokes Psy… ‘I never dreamed of being a singer in America… never dreamed of being in a Super Bowl ad’...
In the ad, Psy wears a pistachio-green suit and will display a special way to crack open pistachios.
‘Pistachios will get a lot of attention for signing Psy, and when you're in the pistachio business, that's a good thing,’ says pop culture guru Robert Thompson. ‘But Psy already is becoming an old joke.’
Consumers are desperately looking for fun, ‘and Psy is the royal court jester,’ says futurist Watts Wacker. But Wacker thinks Psy is a one-trick pony. ‘He'll end up as a Tiny Tim,’ Wacker predicts…”
Many Parodies, Much Fun, and Big Profits?
There are detractors, but Psy's current work with catchy music and intriguing dance rhythms is inspiring parodies and spinoffs that are in many cases also profitable entertainment, if not only fun -- and apparently entirely legal.
(Excerpt) "The video also contains the seeds of its own reconstruction – which goes a long way to explain its success. The dance moves are simple enough to mimic and easily copied scenarios – such as the elevator scene – call out to be aped. Psy has produced a video that is born to spawn and has further facilitated this by waiving his copyright."
From personal knowledge, it is very entertaining it is to have one's funny face featured "Gangnam Style" on a JibJag eCard -- and on Facebook
