(Excerpt) "Almost 98 percent of the space in a salmon farming pen is is water and just 2 percent is fish... Norway was the first country to develop fish farms, back in the 1970's... The Norwegian government is very particular and protective about the farmed salmon environment... [salmon] feed and [sea water] environment is constantly being monitored... All the farming sites are monitored during and immediately after a cycle is over... veterinarians come in and regulate to ensure healthy fish."
